LIMESTONE REFINISHING

Is your limestone floor too dull or too shiny? If you have a new floor with some tiles that look more glossy than others – let us even out the finish for you. Whether you have or are seeking to acquire a gloss, semi-gloss or matte finish, we can deliver a beautifully restored or changed limestone finish.

LIMESTONE HONING

Does your limestone floor have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, etches or spots? Lakewood Stone Polishing can hone your limestone surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new limestone surface free of damage. With our limestone honing services, our expert technicians can achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth.

LIMESTONE POLISHING

An uneven finish, dull spots or etches can diminish the elegant appearance of your limestone floors. Because the composition of different types of limestone react differently to polishing, limestone requires special knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of your specific stone. Lakewood Stone Polishing has this awareness and can polish your limestone using the appropriate diamonds or polishing powders to restore the finish you want, whether matte, semi- or high-gloss. With our limestone polishing services, our expert technicians can achieve a beautiful, glass-like polish. Correctly polished limestone has a lustrous look that can only be achieved with natural stone.

LIPPAGE REMOVAL / GRINDING

Are your limestone tiles uneven? Do you want your tile floor flattened to the grout lines to facilitate easier cleaning? Lakewood Stone Polishing can grind away the excess stone (a process called lippage removal) to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology. Once ground to the level and shape desired, the limestone is honed and polished to the finish you want.

LIMESTONE REPAIR

Do you have chipped limestone tiles? Are there cracks in your floor? What about broken limestone tiles? Before you replace your limestone, consider having us provide expert limestone repair services. Lakewood Stone Polishing can fill holes in limestone, fix limestone cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and honing and polishing it to match the finish on the rest of your limestone floor, countertop or other stone surface.

TILE REPLACEMENT

Although it is rare for a limestone tile to be beyond repair, sometimes tile replacement is necessary. Lakewood Stone Polishing craftsman can, in many cases, remove your affected tile without damaging neighboring tiles, reinstall the new tile, level the installed tile with the surrounding are, and then match the finish as closely as possible.

STAIN REMOVAL

Lakewood Stone Polishing can remove many limestone stains, as well as limestone discolorations. Whether you are seeking guidance on how to do this yourself or want Lakewood Stone Polishing to treat your limestone, the original color of your stone may be restored.

CLEANING AND SEALING

Limestone is easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. Once your limestone floors, showers, tub surrounds, walls, and other limestone surfaces are cleaned and restored, we highly recommend you have them sealed to enhance their stain resistance. All stones are naturally porous and, left unsealed, there’s always the risk that spills may discolor your stone. While most stains can be removed, limestone stain removal can be a time consuming, expensive and often frustrating process. Sealing represents an inexpensive, preventative measure against limestone stain damage. We recommend professional sealing services, rather than doing it yourself. While it may look like an easy process, you will soon discover that it actually requires quite a bit of knowledge and expertise to seal your stone properly and with no resulting residue.

Impregnating Sealer: This is the sealer most commonly used on natural stone surfaces. It penetrates the pores of the stone, inhibiting the absorption of staining agents.

Color-Enhancing Sealer: This sealer also helps prevent the absorption of staining agents, but can also enhance and brighten the natural colors of the stone. It is most often used on stone types with more subtle coloring, such as slate and travertine to give the subtle colors added vibrance.

Wet-Look Sealer: This sealer provides a protective layer to your surface which also causes the stone to look perpetually wet. It is essentially a wax and must be regularly stripped and re-applied, otherwise it tends to dry out and turn white. The stripping agent required to refresh this type of sealer is potentially dangerous and should only be used with the proper equipment.

Lakewood Stone Polishing’s experts can provide a detailed assessment regarding the best sealer for your particular stone and surface type, and will instruct you on the proper care you should use in cleaning your limestone on a regular basis.
